Company and Employees Raise Funds and Awareness for Education and Literacy
Our dedicated employees had the opportunity to participate in not just one but two meaningful events that brought our South Florida community together for two great causes: literacy and education. We were honored to be the presenting sponsors once again for both the 14th annual LOOP for Literacy, benefiting the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County, and Bridge the Gap 5K, benefiting Take Stock in Children of Palm Beach County.
LOOP for Literacy took place at Bryant Park at Lake Worth Lagoon. This family-friendly event invited cyclists, walkers, and runners to unite to support literacy programs that significantly impact children and adults in the community.
“This is my third year participating in the Loop for Literacy, and I love to see the community come together for such a great cause,” said Sr. Manager of Consumer Specialty Melissa Wheat. “This race is in such a beautiful area that it makes it fun to set a goal for myself to beat. I look forward to continuing to support this race and the cause in future years.”
Each participant received a race shirt and a unique, book-themed finisher medal. Another significant element of LOOP for Literacy is the emphasis on nurturing a love for reading among the younger generation. Every registered child left the event with a brand-new book.
Our presenting sponsorship of the Bridge the Gap 5K helped us continue our longstanding support for Take Stock in Children of Palm Beach County, which is dedicated to transforming the lives of students by breaking the cycle of poverty through educational opportunities. Our support for the organization has funded mentoring and full college scholarships for 350 students from the Glades communities in western Palm Beach County.
Take Stock in Children provides wraparound services to low-income, academically qualified students, ensuring constant support from mentorship and academic interventions to college scholarships and post-secondary retention services.
“We had a great time on a beautiful day, and our team was united and excited to participate,” said Sr. Fleet Manager Shane Byers. “I finished 47th out of 776 runners, my personal best. Finishing in the top 50 and raising money for the children made it a perfect race day. We are already looking forward to next year.”
Thank you to our teams for their dedication to the community and for making a difference.
