Florida Crystals Proudly Sponsors Women’s Chamber Foundation Scholarships for Two Glades Students
Florida Crystals was honored to renew our sponsorship of scholarships for deserving young women through our participation with the Women’s Chamber Foundation of Palm Beach County, presented at the Foundation’s 19th Annual Scholarship Luncheon on June 7 in West Palm Beach.
The two recipients whose scholarships we sponsored, Amara Dowdell and Sulvamette Sylvain, are both from the Glades communities of western Palm Beach County, where we grow and mill our sugarcane. This is the second consecutive year that Amara received one of our sponsored scholarships.
“We are proud to join the Women’s Chamber Foundation in supporting women, particularly women from the Glades, to reach their educational goals,” said Caroline Villanueva, Florida Crystals’ South Florida External Affairs Director. “These young women have very bright futures ahead of them, and we’re pleased to play a role in that success.”
Amara grew up in Belle Glade and graduated from Seminole Ridge High School in The Acreage. She is a sophomore at Florida International University with a dual major in biological sciences and national and applied sciences, on the pre-med track. Her goal is to become a medical internist who specializes in cardiology or oncology.
Sulvamette is a graduate of Glades Central High School in Belle Glade and a current student at Palm Beach State College. She has received a number of accolades, and, thanks to her hard work, she is the first person in her family to graduate high school. Sulvamette is in Palm Beach State’s College of Nursing. Her goal is to become a registered nurse.
