Florida Crystals Celebrates the Holidays with Our Community at Annual League of Cities BBQ in the Glades
Florida Crystals always looks forward to celebrating the holidays with our communities and fellow farmers at the Palm Beach County League of Cities’ annual Holiday BBQ in Belle Glade.
Held on Torry Island on the edge of Lake Okeechobee, the Dec. 3 event that we were proud to sponsor brought together leaders from communities and industries throughout Palm Beach County. Many of the more than 350 attendees brought with them a toy to donate to children in western Palm Beach County.
“We at Florida Crystals are thankful for all of the support that we get from our communities,” Pepe Fanjul Jr. said in his welcoming address at the start of the event. “We are very proud to be headquartered here with all of you.”
The Palm Beach County League of Cities hosts its meetings throughout the year in various parts of the County. Its December annual holiday meeting has more than 50 years of history of being held in either Belle Glade or Pahokee. Hence, the luncheon is known as the “TriCities BBQ” because it is hosted by the three cities in western Palm Beach County: Belle Glade, Pahokee and South Bay.
As the signature sponsor, we were happy to assist in providing a barbecue lunch of local favorites: ribs, fried catfish, fresh sweet corn, coleslaw and hush puppies.
Each guest took home a tote bag filled with fresh products grown with pride in western Palm Beach County’s Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA), including our Florida Crystals® Organic Raw Cane Sugar and a 1-lb. bag of our locally grown rice.
