Dozens of Florida Crystals’ Employees Race to Raise Nearly $200K for Local Nonprofits
Dozens of Florida Crystals employees put their feet to the pavement to raise money for two Palm Beach County nonprofits that support education in our community.
Between the two events – the LOOP for Literacy 5K on Feb. 12 and the Bridge the Gap 5K on Feb. 19 – our runners helped the organizations raise important funding to support their missions throughout Palm Beach County. We were also the Presenting Sponsor of both events.
The LOOP for Literacy benefited the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County, which helps people of all ages achieve literacy. More than 400 participants raised $65,000 through the LOOP for Literacy.
Bridge the Gap is one of the most challenging 5K routes in Palm Beach County, taking participants over the towering Blue Heron Bridge to raise money for Take Stock in Children. This local organization provides a unique opportunity for deserving, low-income youth to receiving mentorship and college scholarships.
“As an employee of Florida Crystals, a board member of Take Stock in Children of Palm Beach County and a Bridge the Gap race committee leader, it brought tears of joy to my eyes seeing so many people showing up at the race on an early morning,” said Shiva Ahrens.
Through sponsors and more than 800 participants, Bridge the Gap 2022 raised more than $127,000, Shiva said.
“This money will help a lot of kids go to college,” she said. “Education is our way of breaking the chain of poverty in our community.”
